Beaver Lake Kayakers - Pandemic Special

    When this page became an idea, we spent months gathering videos of our outings with friends and family documenting our lives and adventures. Quickly things began to fall apart due to the global pandemic known as COVID-19. Our footage is still raw and incomplete, but we promised to make the best of this and share the beauty of our hometown, Northwest Arkansas.

    Growing up being from Arkansas was almost embarrassing. People automatically assume you don't wear shoes or you're a hillbilly with limited education. I've heard this more times than I can count, even throughout my adulthood from other adults. All of my life, I dreamed of moving away and seeing the world and what other places have to offer. The truth is, I never realized how lucky I truly was to be born and raised in such a fascinating place. I looked past the stunning views and amazing history Arkansas has to offer.

    Since this is our first post and the whole concept of this page began from Beaver Lake lets start with a little history lesson of one Derek's favorite places, Monte Ne. Monte Ne is located in Rogers, AR originally purchased by Coin Harvey in 1900, and the first hotel was built in 1901. Soon after an entire community was built on 320 acres consisting of three hotels, a bank, an amphitheater, a railroad, an so much more. While a few structures are still visible, including a hotel tower and the tomb of Coin Harvey, most are hidden under the beautiful waters of Beaver lake, and rarely visible to the human eye unless water levels are extremely low.

    Personally, I have never been lucky enough to see the hidden structures under the water and that is what makes this place so intriguing. Here, you can be surrounded by the raw beauty and serenity of the trees and water with an entire city of unknowns, history, and stories beneath you. Whether you're here for a quick visit or a day at the lake with your family, Monte Ne is definitely a must see place while visiting Northwest Arkansas.
